Birthday Fun, Weekend, & Community

Like always, life has been a busy series of events! Last Tuesday I celebrated my 19th birthday at Purdue. My sweet friends bought me the best gifts specifically aligned to what they know I love/need. From chocolate, to vinyls, to books& coffee, they made my first birthday on campus one to remember. On top of it all,  my boyfriend of four years made a visit just to say happy birthday.
When the anticipated weekend finally drew near, my four friends and I packed our bags to spend the weekend at my room mate's house. We visited a pumpkin patch, went shopping, attended her brother's cross country meet, watched a production of Les Miserable, and ventured to various places in her home town. What an eventful weekend it was!  We surely know how to stuff a great amount of memorable activities in to just a few days. Throughout our time there, Amy's family was such a joy, and they made our time there even greater than I anticipated. I love sharing so many eventful memories with such a great group of girls. They have been my little family away from home as I have been here on campus.

Thanks, Purdue

Due to my busy schedule, I haven't been able to keep everyone updated as frequently as I had originally planned.
Just when I completed my first round of exams here at Purdue, I come back from October break to slay two back to back exams tonight. I may only be a freshman, and these may be the most simple classes I will ever take thanks to the pharmacy curriculum, but juggling the constant cycle of exam after exam on top of affiliating myself with campus is not such an easy task. Although it can be stressful at times, it has been rewarding to learn and grow so much in the fleeting eight weeks that I have spent in College. Venturing away from the small town mentality hasn't been the most comforting experience, but the whirlwind of stress and discomfort seems so minuscule compared to the amount of knowledge that I have gained both in and out of the classroom. My big ten school has already given me such a thought provoking view of what I thought that I knew before. I greatly appreciate my hometown, but I also appreciate the experience that I have been given to study at a school that is already shaping me in to the person I hope to become.
Stay tuned as I attempt to share more of what's in store!

Starry Night

Starry Night was a hit!
This authentic arts and music festival is something that my church puts together every year. Hanging lights, Polaroid photos, superb vendors, and catchy music made the night one to remember; yet, my night was made even more memorable thanks to the genuine friends that I have been absolutely blessed with here at Purdue. Without them, the night would not possess the impact that it did.
Oh yeah...Did I mention that my roommate and I got to chat with one of the bands afterwards?

Let the adventure begin!

What a transformation is has been to leave the comfort of everything I have grown to know and love in order to study pharmacy at Purdue University! I know that college is a time of exciting transition and new experiences, so I plan to collect pieces of my journey to share along the way. After all, sometimes the journey to fulfilling your dream is even more fulfilling than the completion of the dream itself.
Cheers to youth, my first blog, and the ability to document my college adventures!
